Georgia faces real questions entering matchup with Tennessee

For the first time in a while, there are legitimate concerns surrounding the Georgia Bulldogs.

Heading into a road matchup with the Tennessee Volunteers, the conversation on Game Runs Deep focused on whether Georgia is as dominant as it once looked.

The questions start at quarterback. Gunner Stockton has yet to fully establish himself as a consistent downfield passer. The Bulldogs moved the ball inconsistently in a 28-6 week two win over Austin-Peay and struggled to finish drives, raising concerns about the offense’s ceiling.

The Dawgs’ offensive line has not played to expectations, and there are ongoing questions about play calling. Those issues have existed in the background, but they are now becoming harder to ignore.

Tennessee enters with confidence and momentum, led by quarterback Joey Aguilar, who has been productive and efficient through the first two weeks. The Volunteers have protected the quarterback well and shown balance on offense, giving them a chance to challenge Georgia.

The environment matters. Playing in Knoxville is never easy, and Tennessee has a history of rising to the moment at Neyland-Stadium. For a Georgia team still searching for consistency on offense, that adds another layer of difficulty.

At the same time, Georgia still has advantages. Under Kirby Smart, the program has built a foundation that consistently competes at the highest level. The defense remains a strength, and the overall talent level is still among the best in the country.

But the gap has narrowed. In a college football landscape defined by parity, Georgia no longer enters games as an overwhelming favorite. The margin for error is smaller, and the flaws are more visible.

For Tennessee, this matchup is an opportunity to break through. For Georgia, it is a chance to prove it is still among the sport’s elite.
