Arch Manning Grimace Sparks Concern

There are growing questions around Arch Manning and his health.

On Game Runs Deep, the conversation shifted from performance to concern after Manning’s Week two showing against San Jose State.

The numbers were solid. Manning went 19 of 30 for 295 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception, with another TD on the ground, and showed improvement from week one. But the eye test told a different story.

There were visible moments where Manning appeared uncomfortable, including grimacing after throws. His mechanics also raised questions, particularly a sidearm motion, first noticed in the Longhorns’ week one loss to Ohio State.

The speculation is that the altered throwing motion may be tied to a shoulder issue. Manning did not address it directly after the game, while head coach Steve Sarkisian dismissed it.

Even beyond the injury concerns, the performance itself was uneven. Despite the touchdowns, some throws lacked the sharpness and consistency expected. It was better than week one, but still not the level many anticipated.

That is what makes this situation worth watching.

If Manning is not fully healthy, it changes the outlook not just for him, but for the Texas Longhorns offense as a whole. For now, there are more questions than answers, and until there is clarity, every throw will be under the microscope.
